👨🏻‍🚀 Work experience

🚙 Project lead: Drivetrain software development and Smart Mobility

Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Germany from May 2012

Coming to Porsche more as an accident: I started at the embedded software development for the drivetrain and battery management and we introduced model based design with mechanical engineers and provided the embedded control software to the sports cars. I learned that software defines the automobile of the future.

Then I changed my field of expertise to join the Connected car & Smart mobility division as an Ideation and innovation worker. We explored with rapid cycles how software in the car and outside the car improves the customer experience.

This is now my main focus: how can we deliver exceptional customer value and what organization can deliver it?

And I found and fostered these factors that drive success

  • experimentation at the business level
  • lean organization
  • employee empowerment

My biggest learning: driving a product idea from reception to a one-month intrapreneur ship.

🚚 Control engineer

Gigatronik, Germany Feb 2004 – May 2012

When I joined the team consisted of three persons. We grew together and built a whole business unit. I entered as an intern and left as the manager of the function development team. My tasks were:

  • team management and sales
  • technical development
  • expert for control design questions group wide

My biggest success: delivering exceptional value to the enthuastic customer.

🛠 Skills

🧚‍♂️ Innovation & coaching

I started my innovation journey with the question: what makes projects successful?

At that time you had to stumble over Eric Ries' Lean Startup movement that propagate small, fast iterations of accountable teams that follow the build-measure-learn loop until they find product-market-fit.

So at the current point of my journey I know there is no one-cure-to-all and I learned that at the heart of each change there are people with problems that they cannot solve alone. So I help them.

💻 Technology

Fast iteration product development ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After validating the project ideas with "paper" prototypes you have to show a system that can perform at least the significant subset of the product promise in a convincing way. I did specialize to deliver that prototype using rapid control prototyping hardware, control algorithms and UX.

Programming ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For my projects I program mainly with JavaScript nowadays because it is fast. I prefer interpreted language but I have done project in Java, C, C++ and Matlab M-Script.

Data analytics & AI ⭐️⭐️

"Data is the new oil." You have to apply analytics and ai to learn from data. I started learning and applying ai while studying signal theory and refreshed that knowledge by completing the Machine Learning Course by Andrew Ng on coursera.org .
